Who says that flowers always have to be bright and cheerful? This week, we've been inspired by the eclipse and trailers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi to take a look at flowers from the dark side!
Before we do that, the language of flowers can be tricky, and when it comes to flower color names it's easy to get confused. Most of the flowers in this post have "black" in their names but are actually shades of burgundy (don't even get us started on the "blue" flowers that range from lavender to dark purple to...well, blue.) So now that we've gotten explanations out of the way, let's take a look at a few of our favorite "black" flowers, accents and foliage!
Black callas are an elegant way to a dark touch to a bouquet or a space. We especially love them in very neutral, white spaces - after all, what's a more classic combo than black and white?
Black Dahlias are available from mid summer to early fall, and we love to use them while they're in season. They are beautiful in a rustic bridal bouquet paired with soft blushes, creams and silvery greens.
Black Pearl Peppers
You'll find these ornamental mini peppers in our bouquets in the late summer and early fall. We love to contrast them against hot pink and bright green for a truly unique, modern look!
Black Raspberry Scabiosa
Delicate and romantic black raspberry scabiosa is another flower you'll see us using in event work. It looks just as fabulous in a rustic bouquet as it does in a traditional, romantic centerpiece and we can't get enough of its velvety texture!
Agonis is one of our founder and head designer's favorite foliages, so you'll see it in a lot of our bouquets. It has great movement and its dark burgundy/black leaves are a wonderful way to elevate a bouquet!
Black Ti Leaves
Last, but not least, we have black ti leaves. These dark burgundy leaves really shine in tropical bouquets and are quite striking when paired with red or hot pink orchids!
These are just a few of our favorite flowers from the dark side. Don't forget to check out MyFlorious.com for more flower info and to order your bouquet today!
