Ever wonder how we come up with our designs? Well, we asked our Founder and Head Designer and she took us through the design process behind our best-selling Azucena bouquet from the Florious Mother's Day 2017 collection.
"Well, for all of our collections I start with the color scheme that I am trying to hit. You'll notice that we generally have one or two neutral bouquets, which are perfect for spaces with a lot of color or for those who prefer everything super clean color-wise in their space. We also will have at least one monochromatic bouquet, perfect for those clients that like to keep it simple!
For this particular bouquet, though, I knew that I wanted something bright and colorful that utilized the peonies that were just coming into season at the time. I had also decided on the 4 different kinds of seasonal foliage I would be using for this collection already, so I chose the two varieties that complimented the peonies the best. Pink, orange and green happens to be one of my favorite color combos, so I added Free Spirit Roses and Mini Green Hydrangeas into the mix. You'll see me use Free Spirit roses in our bouquets a lot, because they are a beautiful, large-headed rose that actually opens and smells amazing while lasting in the vase! It particularly pairs well with pinks and corals, because the tips of the outer petals have a bit of pink in them.
I do general sketches of a collection before creating the sample bouquets to photograph for the site so that I can have a good idea of how the colors and flowers are playing off of each other throughout the collection. Once I'm satisfied with the proposed collection, I make the sample bouquets and we put them up on MyFlorious.com for sale!"
